TICKETS $20 | 21+ PLEASE Owen Evans is a dynamic saxophonist and composer based in Portland, Oregon. He holds degrees in music education and jazz studies, and recently earned a Master’s Degree from Portland State University where he studied improvisation and composition with George Colligan, Darrell Grant, and Tim Willcox. Evans’s roots are in the Seattle music scene. He has performed and recorded across a wide swath of genres with Seattle mainstays, including Battlestar Kalakala, the Jazz Police, the Braxmatics, and Tinkham Road. After moving to Portland in 2022, Evans began focusing on composition and working as a band-leader. His debut album, One-Way Passage: Live at Blue Butler Studios, will be released next year. The album features Evans’ original music performed alongside former teacher Colligan and contemporaries Matt Sazima, Dae Bryant, and Marshall Peterson. Evans’s compositions reflect the full breadth of his wide-ranging experience and influences. Evans has performed all along the West Coast, and looks forward to sharing his music with as many new audiences as possible in 2025. He plans to continue collaborating with Portland’s finest musicians.

He has performed as a dancer with Ballet Hispanico of New York, and the Ballet Companies of New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Princeton, Ballet Tacoma, and the Oregon Ballet Theatre. While living in Portland, Pepe has explored many different facets of the performing arts which include being a comedian and Co-Headliner at Harvey’s Comedy Club, appearing on television in Nowhere Man, Under Suspicion, in the NBC movie of the week Terror in the Towers with George Clooney, as co-host on KATU The Affection Connection, dancer and choreographer on the Cindy Williams television special, and he was featured on Bill Plympton’s film Guns on the Clackamas. In musical theater, Pepe has performed leading roles with the Portland Opera, Musical Theater Company, and Musical Theater of Oregon. Pepe is the founder and leader of Pepe & the Bottle Blondes, and is the former front man with Pink Martini, where he was the lead male vocalist on their album Sympathique.

Influenced by Wes Montgomery, Grant Green and John Coltrane at an early age; Ben has developed a style blended with not only jazz elements, but Latin, classical and world music as well. Ben has studied, shared the stage, and toured with national and internationally known artists including Rick Zunigar (Stevie Wonder), Tony Dumas, Leon Russell, Dick Berk and Charles McPherson. While living in Los Angeles, he studied classical guitar with Scott Tennant (of the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet), Evan Hirschelman, and Robert Mayeur. Ben has performed in music festivals all over the U.S., including the Reno Jazz Festival and Portland Jazz Festival. He has performed with local jazz greats including Ron Steen, Andre St. James, Bobby Torres, Dave Captein and Darrell Grant. With a career spanning over three decades, multi-talented master guitarist, composer, novelist, poet, activist, and educator Anson Wright “may not be a household name, but he should be.”(All About Jazz). In addition to his feature jazz CDs, the last of which, Only Love, contains all original music from Anson and pianist Jasnam Daya Singh, Anson has collaborated on a spoken word CD, The Sky At Our Feet, featuring Anson’s poetry and the music of guitarist John Stowell. Anson has also authored three books, including a novel and a full-length poetry book. Elmore Magazine called the writing in his novel, Jericho, “seminal and profound.” Anson has performed throughout the United States and abroad, including India, and, most recently, Mexico. After graduating with honors from Princeton, he studied at Columbia before beginning his pursuit of both music and literary careers. He has taught at numerous schools, including New York University, Pacific University, and Portland Community College. Since 2006 Anson has led the Chaco Alliance, a citizens’ group dedicated to protecting sacred lands in the Southwest.

In addition to his self-titled work, Cyrus runs the Puddletown Stompers, is a member of Reb & The Good News, and remains active as a sideman. An in-demand composer/arranger, Cyrus has had several works commissioned by Portland Jazz Composer’s Ensemble. Cyrus has produced horn tracks for major artists including Nicky Youre, Grace Enger, Maggie Koerner, Peach Tree Rascals, and David Hugo. He has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with a wide variety of artists including Jamison Ross, Elle King, Tarriona “Tank” Ball, Wess “Warmdaddy” Anderson, James Singleton, Jason Marsalis, Steve Masakowski, Mike Dillon, Stanton Moore, Amina Scott & Nicole McCabe. Cyrus has served on faculty at Loyola University New Orleans. He is an artist-in-residence at multiple Portland Public Schools, and runs a private trumpet studio. Born and raised in Portland OR, Cyrus began his studies with Derek Sims & Alan Jones. He holds a B.M. from Loyola University New Orleans, where he graduated magna cum laude and was awarded outstanding undergraduate in both Jazz and Brass. Throughout this event, the audience will have an opportunity to electronically submit music that they’d like clarity on from members of the band, so as to watch how Christopher’s band problem solves their questions in real-time, in addition to hearing his group perform their own music, followed by members of the audience getting an opportunity to perform with his group in front of their peers. As a bandleader, his band has become a fixture at clubs and festivals throughout the region including PDX Jazz Fest, Anacortes Arts Fest and the Mt. Hood Jazz Festival. As a collaborator, Radsliff is a first-call for many; frequently playing in bands led by Ron Steen, Michael Raynor, Cyrus Nabipoor, Christopher Brown, Galen Clark and many more. In addition to his steady work around the PNW, last year afforded Jack opportunities to work as sideman to Jonathan Pinson, Greg Ward, Domo Branch and Charlie Brown; release his sophomore record “Barefoot” (PJCE Records) featuring Randy Porter, Todd Sickafoose and Alan Jones; and tour the west coast extensively with Ian George, Cyrus Nabipoor and the Jack Radsliff Trio. At the age of 10, Ms. Vee began her musical journey as a piano student at Lorenzo's School of Contemporary Music in Forrest City Arkansas. Founded by Lorenzo Smith and Jackie Toney Smith. Quickly realizing her ear for music, Lorenzo added Ms. Vee to his blues/jazz band at just 10 years old. She continued her professional career in music, serving as Minister of Music/Music Director for several East Arkansas Churches. Ms. Vee later went on to pursue a solo career in music and later comedy. As a result, Ms Vee's style of Soul Blues is infused with black southern gospel and a lot of soul! In 2018, Ms Vee launched her own music project, founding Ms Vee and a Badass Band. In New England, Ms Vee established "a Badass Band" of accomplished New Hampshire & Massachusetts based musicians.. Hailing from Arkansas by way of Memphis Tennessee, the award-winning Ms Vee brings powerhouse vocals and a razor sharp wit to every show.In January 2023, Ms Vee launched a Pacific Northwest configuration of Ms Vee and a Badass Band. Backed by some of the most accomplished musicians in Portland, including Chance Hayden, Jake Koprowski, Terrell "Peanut" Reed, Edwin Coleman III and Ron Solomon, Ms Vee and her Badass Band has been rocking houses since their 2022 debut. They’ve quickly risen to the top of the PDX music scene having played the Waterfront Blues Festival and Cathedral Park Jazz Festival while making regular appearances at Ilani Casino, Jack London Revue and Clyde’s Prime Rib. TICKETS $25 | ALL AGES Help give saxophonist and composer Owen Broder a memorable sendoff as he takes the stage for his final performance as a bandleader in Portland before relocating to the East Coast to begin his next chapter in Washington, D.C. Since arriving in Portland in 2021, Broder has become a central figure in the city’s jazz and music education scenes, making a lasting impact across a wide range of institutions and ensembles in just four years. He served as Director of Jazz at Reed College, taught core jazz courses at Portland State University, and played a key role in developing the jazz curriculum while offering saxophone instruction at Pacific University. He also led the Jazz Ensemble at the Metropolitan Youth Symphony and has been a vital contributor to the Portland Jazz Composers Ensemble (PJCE), where he continues to serve on the board, write commissioned works, and perform regularly—helping to strengthen Portland’s vibrant creative music community. Broder has been especially dedicated to mentoring the next generation of Portland jazz musicians by fostering connections among students across institutions and creating professional opportunities that bridge the gap between classroom and bandstand. Beyond his work in Portland, Broder is a GRAMMY®-nominated artist through his performances with the Anat Cohen Tentet and has regularly collaborated with ensembles such as the Gil Evans Project and YouTube sensation Postmodern Jukebox. He has released several acclaimed recordings as a bandleader and was named a Rising Star Alto Saxophonist in DownBeat Magazine's Critics Polls in 2023 and 2024. As a composer, Broder has received commissions from the Airmen of Note, off-Broadway musicals, the International Society of Jazz Arrangers and Composers, and the internationally renowned woodwind quintet WindSync. This farewell concert will feature Broder’s jazz quartet in an evening of original compositions and reimagined standards, showcasing the depth and versatility of his musical voice. He will be joined by Portland luminaries Darrell Grant (piano), Bill Athens (bass), and Christopher Brown III (drums). The performance is both a celebration of his time in Portland and a heartfelt thank-you to the community that has supported and inspired him along the way.
