Two couples, two worlds—the meeting point: jazz!

Kerry Politzer and George Colligan bring their American musical heritage and Kerry’s love for Bossa; meanwhile, Zsofi and Attila bring their Eastern European musical roots. On this special evening, the band will play, among other songs, their original compositions and jazz adaptations of Bela Bartok's compositions, as well as their favorite bebop and bossa tunes. The musicians sharing the stage represent the beauty of cultural diversity and demonstrate the colorful musical vibe of Portland.
Zsofia Tardy is a jazz singer and music educator from Budapest, Hungary. She moved to Portland with her guitarist husband, Attila Csikos, in 2015, and both of them soon became an appreciated part of Portland’s vibrant musical scene. Zsofia earned her BMus and MMus degrees from the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest. With over 35 years in the music industry, she has performed as a lead singer in various
genres, including jazz, pop, rock, and gospel. She sings in multiple languages and sang lead and background vocals on numerous Hungarian recordings. Zsofia is the Professor of Jazz Voice at Lewis & Clark College and teaches voice and piano in her thriving home studio. She has also guest taught at Western Oregon University and in Nanning, China.
Attila Csikos, also from Portland, is a multi-genre guitarist, educator, and composer with an MMus from Western Oregon University and a BMus from the Liszt Academy. He has performed in numerous bands and major musical theater productions. In 2023, he held a successful solo guitar concert at the PDX Jazz Festival. Attila is an Adjunct Professor of Guitar at Clackamas Community College and teaches online in Hungary,
with a teaching career of over 35 years. Many of his former students are now professional musicians.
