From jazz’s roots in Congo Square to the cutting edge, Cyrus Nabipoor brings a heavy Crescent City crew to the Northwest. Lineup: Cyrus Nabipoor, trumpet, composition; Max Bronstein, guitar; Amina Scott, bass; Micah Hummel, drums. A distinctive voice both on the horn and in his writing, Cyrus Nabipoor's singular sound has garnered him international acclaim. He has been a featured festival artist at PDX Jazz, Cathedral Park, New Orleans French Quarter, and Chicago Instigation. He has released 2 albums under his own name and collaborated on numerous more. In addition to his self-titled work, Cyrus runs the Puddletown Stompers, is a member of Reb & The Good News, and works as a freelance trumpeter and music director. He has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with a wide variety of artists, including Jamison Ross, Elle King, Tarriona “Tank” Ball, Wess “Warmdaddy” Anderson, James Singleton, Jason Marsalis, Steve Masakowski, Mike Dillon, Stanton Moore, Amina Scott, and Nicole McCabe. Bassist Amina Scott has performed with artists such as Jazzmeia Horn, Chief Xian Atunde Adjuah, Don Vappie, David Murray, Johnny Vidacovich, Joanne Bracken, Nicholas Payton, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Randy Brecker, Herlin Riley, and Germaine Bazzle. Amina continues to forge her own path as a trailblazing artist. Drawing from many musical influences, she is able to express her journey into Black womanhood and capture the trials and tribulations of her career thus far. Her debut album Where The Wild Seed Grows is out on all platforms. Currently, she serves on the faculties at Loyola University New Orleans and University of New Orleans. She has also been a faculty member for the Lafayette Summer Music Workshop since 2022. Max “Steen” Bronstein is a New Orleans-based guitarist who has recorded and performed with numerous artists throughout his career. He specializes in R&B, funk, jazz, and gospel styles. He has performed with GRAMMY–nominated Jamison Ross, world famous trumpeter and multi-instrumentalist Nicholas Payton, acclaimed New Orleans vocalist Erica Falls, international touring act Soul Brass Band, saxophonist James Martin, composer and trumpeter Steve Lands, as well as his original group Slugger formed by acclaimed drummer Terrence “Groove Guardian” Houston. He has performed at New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Fest, French Quarter Fest, Blue Note NYC, among others. He has also performed with gospel legends Bishop Paul Morton and Bishop Marvin Sapp. He has also been blessed to share the stage with Kyle Roussel, John Michael Bradford, the Preservation Hall Horns, Ivan Neville, John Boutté, and Irma Thomas. He performs regularly with GRAMMY Award–winning trumpeter and vocalist Leon “Kid Chocolate” Brown.
