TICKETS $20 | 21+ PLEASE Owen Evans is a dynamic saxophonist and composer based in Portland, Oregon. He holds degrees in music education and jazz studies, and recently earned a Master’s Degree from Portland State University where he studied improvisation and composition with George Colligan, Darrell Grant, and Tim Willcox. Evans’s roots are in the Seattle music scene. He has performed and recorded across a wide swath of genres with Seattle mainstays, including Battlestar Kalakala, the Jazz Police, the Braxmatics, and Tinkham Road. After moving to Portland in 2022, Evans began focusing on composition and working as a band-leader. His debut album, One-Way Passage: Live at Blue Butler Studios, will be released next year. The album features Evans’ original music performed alongside former teacher Colligan and contemporaries Matt Sazima, Dae Bryant, and Marshall Peterson. Evans’s compositions reflect the full breadth of his wide-ranging experience and influences. Evans has performed all along the West Coast, and looks forward to sharing his music with as many new audiences as possible in 2025. He plans to continue collaborating with Portland’s finest musicians.
