De Sean (Dae) Bryant is an artist from Harlem, New York who incorporates, jazz and philosophy to explore new possibilities of music from all musical and artistic styles. Dae earned degrees studying Psychology for Undergraduate, Jazz Studies for Masters, and currently in Basel, Switzerland as apart of a year long artist jazz residency called “FocusYear” performing with & working alongside some of the best musicians in the world such as Wolfgang Muthspiel, Johnathan Blake, Guillermo Klein, Allison Miller, Django Bates, Ingrid Laubrock, Robert Hurst, Jorge Rossy and more. And is now working on a 2nd masters majoring in Jazz and Art & Research, with a goal of obtaining a Ph.D in philosophy. Dae uses philosophy to create experiences that use jazz, gospel, space, and existential influence to push what we think we know as a collective. Previously living in Portland, Oregon as the Graduate TA for Portland State University Dae gained experience and knowledge playing along side artists such as George Colligan, Darrell Grant, Melissa Aldana, Jaleel Shaw, Steve Wilson. Which the allowed for the flourishing of Dae’s own curations of the well know Portland based group of “The Collective”, as well as Hang at the Book Pub, BAM at Dream House, and The Collective at the Rhizome. Dae prioritizes creating spaces for all to gain something out of the experience of music.
