Della Simone & George Colligan present an evening of Jazz Standards and music from the Great American Songbook. Known for her rich, emotive voice and wide-ranging, eclectic music taste, she loves to pull an old tune we know and love and make it her own. Her collaboration with Colligan has been eagerly anticipated and something you won't want to miss.
Della Simone has been singing as long as she can remember and comes from a musical family. Della is known for her rich, emotive voice and wide-ranging, eclectic music taste. She has an extensive gig book covering popular jazz standards, musical theatre, pop crossover music, and even dabbles in classical voice. She graduated from Portland State University with her degree in Jazz Voice having studied under Sherry Alves, Kerry Pollitzer, Darrell Grant, and George Colligan. She plays jazz piano and guitar to accompany herself when solo, and has traveled around the globe singing choral music with the PSU Chamber Choir. She is featured as a background vocalist on Storm Large's most recent album "A Joyful Noise.” In May 2025, Della made her debut as a soloist with the Oregon Symphony at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall. Della does choral work in the area as an alto section leader working in various churches and community choruses in addition to her solo work at local venues.
George Colligan is an internationally acclaimed jazz pianist, composer and bandleader, widely respected for his musical depth, versatility and creative intensity. A rare multi-instrumentalist who also performs on organ, drums and trumpet, he is known for his powerful stage presence and his ability to move seamlessly between roles as soloist, ensemble player and leader. Colligan’s music is rooted in the jazz tradition while remaining boldly contemporary, marked by rhythmic drive, harmonic sophistication and a strong personal voice that has made him a distinctive and influential figure on the international jazz scene.
