It will include music of Esperanza Spalding, Wayne Shorter, Jazzmeia Horn and original songs and spoken word pieces by Nicholas Grier and Marcus Lattimore. The evening will be a soulful night of community healing and freedom that draws from the heritage of African American spirituals, jazz, neo soul and spoken word poetry. From an African perspective, music is a life force that nurtures healing and well-being. This concert utilizes music as a life force to nurture communal healing and social good. Nicholas Grier, PhD, is a pianist, mental health therapist, professor, and community advocate who uses music as a tool to nurture communal healing and well-being in society. Grier is author of the book: Care for the Mental & Spiritual Health of Black Men: Hope to Keep Going He is also founder of Coloring Mental Health Collective, LLC.
