Noted for his exceptional technique, creativity, and ability to listen and improvise in the moment, he is an in-demand sideman and bandleader in the jazz and creative music scenes. A staple of the Canadian music scene, he has performed and recorded with Caity Gyorgy (2x JUNO Award Winner), Ira Coleman, Jocelyn Gould, Bryn Roberts and more. He has also self-published several drum method books that have become essential practice tools for drummers around the world, and leads a successful social media community. Having studied at Humber College (Bachelor of Music - 2019) and McGill University (Masters in Jazz Performance - 2022), Jacob is well-respected in the Canadian music community, and has been seen performing at prestigious clubs, halls, and jazz festivals across Canada, the USA and Japan. Jacob has released 3 albums as a leader — "You Better Bet" (2025, Cellar Music Group), “Show Yourself” (2023, Independent) and a duo album with saxophonist Lucas Dubovik entitled “Take it in Stride” (2024, Independent). Jacob proudly endorses Evans Drumheads, ProMark Sticks, Funch Cymbals, Protection Racket cases, and Cympad felts. Leading an exceptional trio of musicians, Wutzke is celebrating the release of his new full-length album “You Better Bet” on the Cellar Live record label.
