The Stumptown Sirens Jazz Orchestra is a powerhouse 11-piece, all-femme ensemble that brings together some of the finest musical talent in the Pacific Northwest. Led by acclaimed conductor and arranger Jessika Smith, the orchestra made its high-profile debut in March 2026 as a featured act of the PDX Jazz Festival. The ensemble boasts a formidable lineup of veteran performers and innovators, including a dynamic saxophone section featuring Mary-Sue Tobin, Michelle Medler, Chelsea Luker, and Mieke Bruggeman. The brass is anchored by trumpeters Sarah Owen and Aliyah Jackson, alongside trombonists Jenny Kellogg and Shayna Waldman. Driving the rhythm section are Kerry Politzer on piano, Leah Hinchcliff on bass, and Rivkah Ross on drums. Blending sophisticated arrangements with a bold, collaborative spirit, the Stumptown Sirens are dedicated to celebrating and elevating the presence of women in the jazz tradition while pushing the boundaries of the big band sound.
